Since 2017, Engineering IDS has been a key player in offshore fish farm design. We have been actively engaged in developing the first and largest offshore fish farm project for SalMarAker Ocean, Smart Fishfarm. Fish Farm Concept & Design

Creating new fish farming concepts requires careful analysis and significant time investment. Offshore fish farming introduces distinct risks that are not present in traditional inshore operations, and these must be thoroughly evaluated when transitioning to harsher environments.

At Engineering IDS, we have developed an offshore fish farm facility that is a tailor-made solution for breeding salmon in fully exposed offshore locations worldwide. This concept is scalable in size to accommodate the number of concessions and other factors such as wave height, water depth, and sea currents at various locations.

Moving fish farming offshore requires redesigning fish handling and monitoring systems, traditionally used in inshore net pens, to endure harsher weather conditions. It is crucial to validate that these systems can withstand the environmental forces at the offshore location.

This concept has evolved traditional fish farming techniques with enhanced technical solutions, improved fish welfare, and superior unit arrangements, ensuring resilience against wind, waves, and sea currents.

As a result of our experience and expertise, we can develop concepts and construction based on simple sketch ideas from customers, tailored to chosen locations and criteria.
