Ocean Mapper

The Ocean Mapper is a next-generation deep-sea research vessel designed to set new standards in efficiency and cost-effectiveness for ocean mapping. Developed in collaboration with Victor Vescovo and Espen Oeino International, the vessel is optimized for long-duration missions with minimal crew and low operational costs.

Equipped with advanced survey technology, Ocean Mapper can deploy micro-landers to full ocean depth (10,935m) for bathymetric mapping, biological sampling, and environmental monitoring. Its streamlined hull and optimized performance ensure superior seakeeping and fuel efficiency, making it the most cost-efficient deep-ocean mapping platform ever built.

Engineering IDS was responsible for the vessel’s hull form development, technical layout, equipment selection, structural design, model testing, and performance optimization, ensuring seamless integration of engineering and functionality. The result is a vessel that combines cutting-edge research capabilities with a robust and efficient design for global scientific exploration.
